Cyprus is an island located in the eastern Mediterranean.
The surrounding mountains range from north and south, the vast plain in the center, as well as the Mediterranean and mild climate makes it here an atypical distribution of vegetation zones. Groves of citrus can be grown at altitudes above 450m, and the vine above the sea level up to 1000m. Moreover, mild climate and the sea surrounding the island is convenient for the development of tourism.
Beautiful beaches and rich cultural heritage of the island made it a place likely to be visited by tourists. However, tourism has evolved primarily in the southern part, where country Cyprus is located, inhabited by Cypriot Greeks. Indeed, the island itself is divided into the southern part, northern part belonging to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the two British sovereign enclaves of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. Thus, the State of Cyprus is the most famous and visited and is known for its excellent tourist facilities. The official language of Cyprus is Greek and English, which together with the traffic here is a remnant left after the British colonialism. Capital, Nicosia, located on the border between northern and southern part has been divided by a wall, which forms a demarcation line. It belongs therefore to both Cyprus and the Turkish Republic. This is a unique country in the world, country-city of two nations.
Cyprus is divided between the Orthodox and Muslim religions. Cuisine is also mixed, giving us in this way, the unforgettable variety of tastes and smells. It is a place of legends and myths. Precisely here Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam, and at the top of Mount Olympus the gods lived.
